Roots is a self-directed Learning Community in Columbia, Missouri.

Roots Reformation and Move!

As a grassroots organization in Columbia, Roots is constantly evaluating and redefining the program in order to more adequately serve families who have chosen the path of self-directed learning. We have some exciting plans for the fall, and we have moved out of our old house so that we can better immerse in the community of Columbia. Roots will be moving into the house at The Big Canoe. In addition, Roots will no longer be a daily gathering place for Youth to “hang out.” Instead the purpose of Roots will be to supplement those people who have chosen the lifestyle of the self-directed learner. Roots will offer a calendar of classes and events for members. See Programs Page. Members can choose to participate in any classes that are of interest and must come prepared to participate.

Lastly, we have come up with some statements that may help clear up some issues regarding what the Roots program is exactly.
