The Sudbury Valley School, the cutting edge school for independent children. This school embodies a great deal of the philosophical issues at the core of self-directed learning. The Sudbury model has been replicated over 30 times in this country and abroad.
North Star: Self-Directed Learning for Teens. North Star is a leader in community based, self-initiated learning. This is a learning center in Massachusettes that is very similar to Roots, however, Roots hopes to include all ages in time.
The Brooklyn Free School is a true democratic school for all ages. BFS promotes non-coercive education in New York City and beyond. Their links page offers a great connection to other free schools.
